What is the environmental label? The environmental label identifies packaging to indicate its composition and facilitate collection, reuse, recycling and disposal. From 1 January 2023, it is mandatory for all packaging, as required by Legislative Decree 116/2020.

Where should it be placed? The label can be:

  • Directly on the packaging
  • On digital channels (Apps, QR codes, websites)
  • On transport documents, instruction booklets or information boards

Differences Between B2B and B2C For B2C, the label must indicate the composition of the material and instructions for separate collection. For B2B, only material coding is mandatory.

Impact on the business From 1 January 2023, purchased packaging must be labelled. Those produced before can be used while stocks last. For B2C shipments, all materials must be indicated, with information on how to dispose of them.
